When Honda releases a new model of the Honda Civic, most people think “That’s a good one, but they will never be able to top this on.” Well, Honda just keeps proving its critics wrong. Each new redesign of the previous generation is better than the last. All generations, from the first to the latest generation, keep in line with Honda’s trend of manufacturing cars that are fuel efficient, affordable, environmental friendly and of high performance. Recently Honda has added a new trend to their list, being stylish. The 2009 Honda Civic embodies all these characteristics.

The 2006 Civics were a hit in the market mostly because of the high oil prices being experienced worldwide. The car included a wide range of models in Coupe and Sedan designs. It quickly topped the list of best-selling cars in the American market. But the rival Japanese automakers, Toyota, were not sleeping. They released a redesign of Corolla which is now in showrooms around the world. This prompted Honda to redesign its 2006 Civic. The result was the release of the new 2009 Honda Civic.

What improvements could Honda possibly make to an already popular car? Well with a manufacturer like Honda, the answer to this question would be many. The car was restyled, improvements were made to the interior, new technology was added, more safety features were installed and two sedan models were released. The two variants are the DX-VP and the LX-S. These models gave consumers the option of buying low priced or middle priced models.

Changes made during the restyling are minimal as Honda wanted to retain the look of the 2006 Civic that saw such success. They installed a bumper that has three air intakes. To give the Civic a bolder look, the grille was restyled and a new color combination for the headlights was added.

The interior of the car received more extensive work than the exterior. The two-tier dashboard that was introduced three years earlier was retained in the redesign. For all sedans in this range, a three spoke wheel was introduced. The cloth was replaced on seating surfaces and armrests. For those looking for a little more luxury, the improvements included heated leather seats, steering wheel with leather wrapping and heated side mirrors. A Bluetooth Hands Free Link Mobile phone interface was included in the cars that are Nav-equipped. The feature includes buttons on the steering wheel that can be used to control it. Other models like the EX-L, the EX and Si include an audio interface that can be used for an MP3 player.

The two major models in this range of cars which many believe will be the next great hit are the DX-VP and the LX-S. The DX-VP saw the inclusion of a standard air conditioning system. The audio system added to this model includes a supplementary input jack. The new LX-S is a sporty redesign of the LX. The new features in this model include alloy wheels, a steering wheel with leather wrapping, exhausts with chrome tips, a rear deck spoiler and sporty trimmed seats with black cloth covering that includes silver stitching and synthetic suede bolsters.
